India-A Land of Teachers.
India has always been a land of great teachers. From Aryabhatta to Dr Abdul Kalam, many great teachers have emphasized the importance of a good teacher. Dr Abdul kalam has said, “Teachers are the backbone of any country, the pillar upon which all aspirations are converted into realities”. Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan also said, “Teachers should be the best minds in our country”. Teachers play an important role in flourishing the coming generation and making them ready to be future leaders.
The day of 5th September is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. He was the 2nd President of our country and a great teacher as well as a philosopher. He always emphasized the importance of education and good teachers. Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan believed that to build a better nation, a country requires better teachers and declared to celebrate his birthday as the teacher’s day celebration in 1962 and since then it has become a tradition in our country.
We have seen one more of our presidents who was also a great teacher, Dr APJ Kalam. He highlighted quality education and worked for progress-oriented education. He said that “Teachers are the backbone of any country, the pillar upon which all aspirations are converted into realities”.
A teacher does not always mean the one who teaches you the academic courses but the one who teaches you the basic values and beliefs of human life. A mother is considered the first teacher of a child because she teaches you the survival of life. A teacher and students are like gold and goldsmiths. The gold also goes through the fire and jiggers of the goldsmith but that becomes the reason for its shiny and beautiful architecture. Similarly, the teachers also punish students or scold them but only to make them disciplined and to bring the best out of them.
Our country is full of mythological stories. And in every story, a teacher is considered a top position and the most respected post. In those stories, the teachers are considered equal to God. Our culture has always taught us to place our teachers even before God.
After our parents, it is the teacher who inculcates good values and wisdom into our lives. They play a very important role in every student's life. Words are not enough to express our gratitude to our teachers, therefore we dedicate 5th of September to all our beloved teachers who have taught us something about life and helped us to become a better individual. After finishing our high school and college, we tend to somehow forget our revered teachers who have been the building blocks of where we are today. So on this day, let us remember all our mentors and teachers and send them a gratitude message for playing such an important role in our lives.
Words fall short when we start to describe how important a role the teacher plays, in any student’s life. We can only say what our Vedas also teach us that
“Gurur Brahma Gurur Vishnu, Gurur Devo Maheshwarah |
Gurur Sakshat Parambrahma, Tasmai Shri Gurave Namah ||”
It means that a teacher in himself is a comprisal of all forms of Gods and that’s why a teacher’s place is considered above God in our society. In our history, a teacher has given utmost importance because a mother’s womb gives shape to a human body, but a teacher gives shape to human values which further strengthen our society as humanity and helps it in becoming progressive. A teacher opens a window of thousands of opportunities for students to lead them on a good path in life.
The relationship between a student and a teacher is like a potter and clay. The potter jiggers the clay to make sure there are no lumps and then models it into a beautiful art structure. Similarly, a teacher may be hard on us sometimes but at last, they only want us to become the best version of ourselves.
A teacher plays a backbone in the construction of society. He nurtures the naive child with his knowledge and experiences and turns it into a sincere, knowledgeable, responsible human being.
Teacher is like a candle who burns himself to lighten up the whole world. He shows us the righteous path when we are directionless. Teachers have played a vital role in educating our society and making the world a better place.
Today we want to thank all our teachers for providing us with the best knowledge and guiding us through the different phases of life. They have helped us not only in academic performance but also in inculcating the basic values and strong character of a person. Wherever we will be in our lives, we will make sure to help our nation and world to keep humanity alive. We will surely contribute to our progressive nation with the knowledge you have enlightened us. We will make our all teachers proud and that is the best gift a student can ever give to his teacher.
