**Ludhiana Police Presents: The Promise Cup - A Triumph Against Drug Abuse.

 

*Ludhiana, October 27 (Kunal Jaitly - In an endeavor to combat the pervasive issue of drug addiction and encourage positive engagement among the youth, the Ludhiana Police, under the leadership of Commissioner Sh. Mandeep Singh Sidhu IPS, organized a spirited and highly successful cricket tournament known as the "Promise Cup." The tournament took place in the serene village of Dhule, under the jurisdiction of the Dhelon Police Station in Ludhiana, spanning three days, from the 25th to the 27th of October. 


The Promise Cup was not just a cricket tournament; it was a powerful platform where the youth of Ludhiana showcased their unwavering commitment to four key promises:


1. **Reject Drugs:** The tournament embodied the youth's dedication to leading a drug-free life, thus fostering a healthier and drug-free community.


2. **Collaborate with Law Enforcement:** The youth pledged to stand together with the police by reporting any information about drug smugglers, thereby contributing to the eradication of the drug trade.


3. **Support Those Battling Addiction:** The Promise Cup also emphasized providing support to individuals afflicted by addiction, promoting a compassionate and empathetic society.


4. **Harness Energy Positively:** The tournament served as a reminder for the youth to channel their energy into constructive and productive avenues, ultimately shaping a brighter future for themselves and their community.


On the final day of the tournament, the occasion was graced by Commissioner of Police Ludhiana, Sh. Mandeep Singh Sidhu IPS, alongside other distinguished guests, including DCP Investigation, Sh. Harmeet Singh Hundal PPS, DCP Rural Sh. JasKiran Singh Teja PPS, ADCP2 Sh. Suhail Mir IPS, ADCP1 Sh. Shubham Aggarwal IPS, ADCP4 Sh. Tushar Gupta IPS, ADCP Operations Sh. Sameer Verma PPS, ADCP PBI Sh. Vaibhav Sehgal PPS, MLA North Madan Lal Bagga, MLA Central Ashok Prashar, MLA Sahnewal Hardeep Singh Mundiya, MLA West Gurpreet Gogi, MLA Atam Nagar Kulwant Singh Sidhu, and Mandeep Kaur Tangra, a TEDx Speaker and Entrepreneur.


The Promise Cup was ultimately claimed by the outstanding Sihar Eleven, who displayed exceptional sportsmanship and teamwork throughout the tournament. Jatinder Sharma was deservedly declared the Player of the Series, while Daljit Singh was named the Batter of the Match and Gursewak Singh as the Best Bowler of the Match.


The winning team was rewarded with a grand trophy and a generous cash prize of Rupees 51,000, while the runner-up received Rupees 31,000. The 3rd and 4th place teams were not left behind, each receiving Rupees 11,000. The Player of the Series received a cash prize of Rs. 5,100, and the Best Bowler and Batter of the Match each received Rupees 2,100.
