LALIT BERRY
Daler Mehndi whose inimitable style of singing and dancing has elevated Indian Pop and Bhangra to a degree of reverence, was born on 18 August 1967 at Patna. His high voltage performances with exiquisite choreography create an atmosphere. He is popularly known as King of Bhangra, Indian King of Pop, and Sardar of Swing.
Though his father Ajmer Singh was a farmer but he earned reputation as a musician. His mother Balbir Kaur was a state level wrestler. He inherited music from his father.
Wearing bejeweled turban has become his trademark. He is best known for his energetic songs. Bolo Ta Ra Ra ( 1995), his debut album made him a pop star. His second album Dardi Rab Rab surpassed the sales of previous album. Ho Jayegi Balle Balle ( 1997) and Tunak Tun Tun ( 1998) cemented his status as India's biggest popstar. He has also rendered his voice to many superhit Bollywood songs such as Na Re Na Re, Kudiyan Shehr Diyan, Rang De Basanti, Zor Ka Jhatka etc.
