Health-Care Professionals And Experts Have Growing Concerns About How The Virus Could Disproportionately Impact The Women.
As the coronavirus continues to spread globally, some health-care professionals and experts have growing concerns about how the virus could disproportionately impact women.
Right now, women hold 56% (approx.) of health-care jobs. In nursing, where workers are on the front lines of patient interactions, women make up more than 85% of the workforce.
“It’s a little scary,” for those who works in this dangerous condition all over the world. In the past, they worked with patients who’ve had the flu, tuberculosis and other communicable diseases, but the coronavirus is different. In addition to the virus having no vaccine yet, the rush of people being infected has led to some health-care workers and other on duty staff such as police being fearful that they may contract it as well.
“They are asking themselves, ‘What if they got exposed to the virus unknowingly and now they have to go back to family members who are in the age bracket of 60 and above, or even younger family members with a weak immune system?’”
Hospital won’t reveal the exact number of patients infected, the 25-year-old nurse says she’s aware that they’ve had to place several patients who tested positive for the virus in quarantine.
Nancy Nielsen, former president of the American Medical Association, says it’s important to understand that “health-care workers are at risk, and they need to be protected with protective gear to prevent infection.” Already, she says, “we have seen tragic deaths among health-care professionals, both doctors and nurses, abroad.”
Apart from that they are facing other difficulties also:
Effect on their personal life: Most of the medical staff are not going their home in this pandemic situation. Due to that they are unable to spend their quality time with their families, their children, wife and this time is very crucial time for them because of long time working, which make them restless, uneasiness and emotionally disturbed. But this is not facing by everyone, some are effected with these problem.
Long working Hours: 12hours working time make them tired. You can also see that how are police officers working now a day. They are standing on road for long duration and save us from corona.
Family responsibilities: those are on duty in this pandemic situation, they also have a family and families’ responsibilities such as some of them have old parents, new bone baby. But they are working for their country and for us.
So, need to salute them with our bottom of our heart.
